Photographs ofShosei-en GardenShosei-en, also known as Kikoku-tei - a name that comes from the trifoliate orange hedging which surrounds most of the grounds. Shosei-en garden is a strolling garden that belongs to Higashi Hongan-ji Temple. It dates back to the ninth century, when it was built by Prince Minamoto Notooru. According to legend, he designed the pond to remind him of the seacoast of northern Honshu. |
