Ryoan-ji Zen Garden

Ryoan-ji Temple possesses what is arguably the most famous of the Buddhist Zen dry gardens - fifteen rocks arranged in a rectangle of raked white gravel. Although originally created in the fifteenth century, its current form may date back only to the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century.

Recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage.
